As the City of Rome prepares for the upcoming Honor America Days celebration, two residents are declaring Rome As 'Flag City New York.'

Tom Kenealy and Lori Frieden are making the declaration as volunteers have lined the Tomb of the Fallen Soldier along with Veteran's and Gansevoort Parks with hundreds of American Flags.

They say there is no better way to celebrate the theme of this year's Honor America Days, which is the 'Pledge of Allegiance.'

The first American flag flown in what is now Rome, NY, flew during the siege of Fort Stanwix during the American Revolution on August 3, 1777.
