A Rome woman is being called a hero after saving a Rensselaer woman and her 7 year old daughter on Sunday.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol, Lunelle Givens and her daughter Abbagail were feeding ducks on the pier off of Canal Street in Sylvan Beach when Abbagail fell into the water.

Her mother then tried to reach for her and fell in also.

That's when Gail Powell of Rome jumped into the canal and was able to bring both Givens and her daughter back to shore with the help of other good samaritan bystanders.

Nobody was injured in the accident.
