Utica School Board President Chris Salatino will be running for the 119th District Assembly seat.

The Democrat announced his candidacy on Thursday at the Hotel Utica.

“I’m running for the Assembly because our schools and kids need more out of Albany” Salatino said, “Anthony Brindisi has done tremendous things for us and I want to continue that fight in the State Capitol” Salatino added.

Salantino becomes the second candidate to enter the race for the seat currently held by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

Democrat Marianne Buttenschon announced last July that she would be seeking the seat.

Brindisi will challenge Congresswoman Claudia Tenney in November.
