Several Travel Advisories And Road Closures Scheduled This Week
The New York State Department of Transportation has issued several travel advisories for Central New York this week.
Be mindful of these closings and advisories as you make travel plans for this week.
Town of Marcy
The first advisory is for Monday, June 17th and Tuesday, June 18th. Starting at 7 a.m. on each of those days, Route 291 between Nine Mile Creek and Route 365 will be closed to through traffic for construction of a culvert pipe.
Burrstone Road
Another travel advisory to be aware of is for a night time paving operation. NYSDOT says, on Monday and Tuesday (6/17 and 6/18) nights starting at 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. between French Road/Champlin Avenue and Bennett Street motorists can expect to see an increase in construction activity.
Black Bear and Rocky Point Trailhead Lots
If you planned on doing any traveling up north this week for hiking or boating, be advised of paving being completed in the area of Old Forge and Inlet. From Tuesday through Thursday, the NYSDOT will be reconstructing the entrances to the parking lots for the trailheads at Black Bear and Rocky Point. As a result, both parking lots and the boat wash access will be closed, until reconstruction is complete.
Madison County
Another night time paving operation will be taking place in the Town of Lenox in Madison County. Motorists traveling through the Route 13 and Route 31 intersection will experience a full closure of the roundabout. That closure is due to milling, paving and pavement marking operations.
Signed detours will be in use where necessary and the NYSDOT is reminding all drivers to drive carefully through work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
