Utica, NY (WIBX) - Thousands are without power as severe weather ripped through the area.

"We need the rain but not like that," said Mike Marrone of Marcy.

He goes on to say the rain was pretty intense at times, as was the thunder and lightening.

The destruction from this storm left around 12-thousand people and businesses without power.

Service should be restored to most customers by 6 p.m., while National Grid is still determining when it will be restored to others.

Route 233 in Kirkland between 12B and College Hill Road is closed due to numerous downed trees and wires.
