Shia LaBeouf has been known to utilize some ... how should we put it? ... unconventional acting methods. While he dropped acid for 'Charlie Countryman' and sent director Lars Van Trier his own sex tapes for 'Nymphomaniac,' he was all about embracing the pain for his role in David Ayer's 'Fury.'

In an interview with the UK's edition of GQ (quotes via Yahoo Movies UK), LaBeouf's co-star Logan Lerman described how far he took his role, saying, "We were in makeup and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, it looks good.’ And Shia was like, ‘No, it doesn’t look real.'" From there, Lerman details how LeBeouf "walks out into the hallway and says, ‘Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out…’ and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That’s all real."

He seems to have applied the Mickey Rourke method of acting; the actor cut up his face for his role in 'The Wrestler.' However, there was another level to LaBeouf's theatrical penance. Remember that photo he posted in May of 2013? The one with him missing a tooth? Yeah, the 28-year-old actor (26 at the time of the photo in question) had his dentist pull out one of his front teeth.

In 'Fury,' LaBeouf plays a member of a tank crew manned by Brad Pitt's "War Daddy" during WWII, and Pitt had nothing but kind words to say about LeBeouf. He recently stated, "Oh, I love this boy. He’s one of the best actors I’ve ever seen. He’s full-on commitment, man. He’s living it like no one else, let me tell you." He also detailed how him and LeBeouf teamed together to berate their co-star, Clint Eastwood's son Scott, for spitting tobacco on the tank, a place they had considered home for having filmed so many of their scenes in and around it. "Shia saw it and felt the same [as me] — he’s disrespecting our home. So Shia had the same reaction I did and started having some words."

Following LaBeouf's recent affairs involving plagiarism, a paper bag, walking out of a press conference, an altercation with a homeless man in NYC, and pleading guilty for his disorderly conduct during a 'Cabaret' performance, we're happy to see he's at least taking his craft seriously.
