Former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has been sentenced to five years in prison on corruption charges.

He was sentenced this morning in federal court in Manhattan.  Skelos was also fined $500,000.

Skelos and his son Adam were convicted last December of bribery, corruption and conspiracy after the disgraced politician was convicted of strong-arming companies into paying his son more than $300,000 for no-show consulting jobs.

Adam Skelos was sentenced to six and-a-half years.
