STAR Exemption Deadline Is 12/31/13

Tomorrow is the final day for homeowners to register for the basic STAR property tax exemption.

Through STAR the average homeowner saves $700 every year on their local school property tax bill.

To make sure every eligible homeowner registers by the deadline, the state tax department's outreach campaign has featured telephone reminders, letters and local registration campaigns.

By registering for STAR one time homeowners will continue to be eligible for the benefit in 2014 and beyond.

The Basic STAR exemption is available on the primary residence of homeowners with incomes of under $500,000.
