Halloween will see a dramatic increase in pedestrian traffic as children and families trick-or-treat together.

The goal of the State Police from Oct. 26-31 is to provide safe roads for everyone, especially for young children walking through neighborhoods. The State Police plan increased patrols in hopes that increased visibility and enforcement efforts will ensure that this upcoming time frame will be a safe one for people in New York.

The State Police have planned a number of varying enforcement efforts, including: DWI sobriety checkpoints, DWI roving patrols, and aggressive driver enforcement efforts will be conducted at various locations in order to keep the roadways as safe as possible for travelers this weekend.

The state police encourage all those who will be traveling during this time to drive safe and drive smart.
