State Police Warn Of Phone Scam In Herkimer County

State Police in Herkimer say they've investigated two recent incidents of telephone scams targeting the elderly.

Senior Investigator Timothy Blaise says the scams were directed at elderly women in Herkimer County and both involved the victims' grandsons needing bail money.

He says the scams were not discovered until the women had each wired over $3,00 to unknown subjects in Mexico and New York City.

Blaise is warning residents against sending money to someone they don't know, especially through Western Union or Moneygram
