COLLINS LANDING, N.Y. (AP) — Work is underway on a new North Country Welcome Center near the Thousand Islands Bridge in Jefferson County.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office says the center in Collins Landing will have information on local attractions such as Boldt Castle in Alexandria Bay and the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton. There will be kiosks allowing visitors to design a trip itinerary and a children's playground outside.

The welcome center is slated to open in the fall.

Cuomo, a Democrat, announced the opening of the Long Island Welcome Center in Suffolk County in 2016. Since then, other welcome centers have opened in New York City, the Finger Lakes, the Mohawk Valley, the Southern Tier and central New York.
