Suspect In 12 Western NY Arsons Being Held In Pennsylvania

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 19-year-old man being held in a Pennsylvania jail faces a dozen arson charges for fires he set in two western New York communities last month.

Police say Jonathan Young set a total of 12 fires from March 2 to March 25 in the city of Jamestown and the neighboring village of Falconer in Chautauqua (shuh-TAW'-kwuh) County, on the Pennsylvania border 55 miles south of Buffalo.

Officials at the county jail in Butler County, north of Pittsburgh, contacted Jamestown police on Monday to notify them they've had Young in custody on arson and burglary charges since March 28.

Surveillance video from one of the fires led police to suspect Young of setting the fires.

It couldn't be determined from Chautauqua County prosecutors if Young has a lawyer.
