With the release of a long-anticipated state report on marijuana legalization in New York expected soon, the district attorney for Albany County is planning to hold a series of public meetings this month to discuss the issue.

With little more than a week left in the legislative session, some state lawmakers and community advocates are renewing the push for legalized recreational marijuana in New York state.

Republican Vermont Gov. Phil Scott says he has sent a counter proposal to lawmakers in response to the revised marijuana legalization proposal they sent to him last week.

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott is going to announce his decision on whether he will allow the state to become the ninth in the country, along with the District of Colombia, to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.

By a margin of only four votes, the Vermont House passed a bill that could legalize recreational marijuana statewide, allowing citizens to grow and possess small amounts of marijuana. The bill will now move to the Senate, where it is unlikely to be brought up for debate until next year.
