PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The FBI is looking into whether a flying object struck the windshield of an Amtrak train just before it derailed this week, killing eight people and injuring about 200.
BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — The black boxes containing the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder are in the hands of federal safety investigators trying to determine the cause of a fiery weekend crash outside Boston that killed Philadelphia Inquirer co-owner Lewis Katz and six others on his jet.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the National Transportation Safety Board is expressing alarm at a dramatic increase in hazardous liquids being hauled in freight trains.
The search continues for possible survivors after a plane crashed off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida last night. Two people are confirmed dead. A total of four people, including the pilots, are believed to have been on board.
The National Transportation Safety Board is actively investigating the crash of UPS Flight 1354 which resulted in the deaths of both the pilot and co-pilot.
UPDATE: 08/14/2013 10:02am It appears that no one else was injured by the plane as it crashed. The crash site is more than 2,500 feet from the airport. Local authorities are saying that trees and power lines are damaged. It is not believed that any homes or surrounding structures were hit.
