The Winner of the Women on 20’s Contest is…….Harriet Tubman [VIDEO]
Some say that a woman's place is...on the money. That is one of the slogans used by the group Women on 20's, an organization campaigning for the image of a woman to be put on the face of the U.S. twenty dollar bill, replacing that of Andrew Jackson.
Thousands voted in the campaign that garnered even President Barack Obama's attention and comment. The winner, announced this morning, is Harriet Tubman.
Hundreds of thousands of people from all over voted from among fifteen female candidates. Congress is debating legislation introduced in response to the campaign.
Since the winner was announced this morning, there has not yet been any official word from the United States Treasury as to whether or not Tubman's image will replace Jackson's, or whether both may share the honor.
