The new state budget includes a tax credit that will benefit the Utica area.

A 25% tax credit will go to producers that tech their shows in New York theaters such as The Stanley Theater in Utica.

John Fehlner of the Broadway Theater League Utica says since the announcement was made, email and calls of congratulations from production companies have been pouring in.

Fehlner says Each tech show brings over $1 million in revenue to the Utica Area.

Of the 7 shows that have been teched in New York 6 have been at the Stanley and a seventh will happen this fall.

Shows that have teched at The Stanley in the past include American Idiot, We Will Rock You, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Cirque Dreams Holidaze.

New York Joins Rhode Island, Illinois, and Louisiana as the only states with production tax incentives.
