Tom Brady Was Mercilessly Heckled on Twitter After Opening Night Loss
Tom Brady got crushed by the Chiefs. Then, he got crushed again.
Tom Terrific was roasted on Twitter after he and the defending Super Bowl champs were manhandled by the visiting Kansas City Chiefs in the opening game of the 2017 season. The Pats were about a touchdown favorite, so the fact they lost by 15 points is mind-blowing.
And the fact that Brady was thoroughly outplayed by Alex Smith is even more stunning. Smith passed for almost 400 yards and four scores, while Brady went for 267 yards and no TDs. How stunning was this loss? Consider this: the Chiefs became the first team in the AFC to beat the Patriots at home when Brady played the entire game since the Jets managed the feat in 2006.
A shot of Brady on the sidelines in the closing minutes of the game perfectly captured the scene. It also set the stage for some fantastic memes.
While it's easy to enjoy the moment, we'd caution people. Brady and his team are never to be counted out. Just ask the Falcons.
