Verona, NY (WIBX) - The Town of Verona is hosting a bath salts and meth forum aimed at educating the public about the effects of each drug.

Councilman Fritz Scherz is hosting the forum at the Verona Fire Hall on August 13th, at 6 p.m. He says he wants the public to understand that bath salts effect many people.

"Whether it's the first responders or the paramedics that have to treat them, whether it's the law enforcement agencies that are responding to a situation where they're being out of control or violent, or just the regular public," Scherz said.

Among those speaking at the forum are members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police and several EMTs, including Bill Vineall of Vineall Ambulance.

Scherz says he drew from a wide range of experts, "so the residents attending the forum would be able to get any of their questions on bath salts and meth answered."

The councilman  says although the event is free to attend, space is limited.
