Tractor Trailer Crashes In Rome

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a Jacksonville, Florida man who crashed his tractor trailer on Route 365 in Rome this morning fell asleep at the wheel.

Deputies say 41-year old Luciano Kanga, who was traveling too fast for the road conditions, fell asleep and drifted onto the East Dominick Street exit ramp.

They say the tractor trailer left the road and struck a guide rail, knocking down several hundred feet.

The trailer of the tractor then slid off the roadway and down into an embankment.

Deputies shut down the East Dominick Street exit for a period of time while the trailer was removed from the guide rail.

Kanga was not injured and was issued a citation.
