Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of UPD Suspect

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica Police arrested a man on several active warrants after a traffic stop last night. According to the report, 35 year old Shawn Carter was pulled over in the area of State and Columbia street around 8:15 p.m., and taken to the city lockup with bail set at $2,500.00.

Carter is facing 2nd Degree Menacing, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and 2nd Degree Harassment charges for a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 12. Police say at the time of Carter's arrest, he was in possession of marijuana, and is facing an additional drug charge for that offense. The suspect will answer the charges in Utica City Court at a later date.
