Two Area Men Facing Rape Charges

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Two area men have been arrested and charged with rape. That's according to officials with the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center who investigated the two cases.

The suspects, 18-year-old Roy C. Powell of Ilion, and 36-year-old Marwin Giles of Utica, are facing 2nd Degree Rape charges for allegedly having sexual contact with minors who are less than 15-years old. Officials say the incidents took place in Utica in the fall of 2011 and in January of this year.

Both men were taken to Oneida County Jail with bail set at $15,000 for Powell, and $30,000 for Giles. The investigation is still active and additional charges are pending. The victims have been offered counseling at the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
