The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area held it's third annual back to school supply drive today.

Eight programs and agencies throughout Herkimer and Oneida Counties were given school supplies to hand out to area residents to help offset the cost of the supplies children need to start the school year.

More than 1,500 pounds of materials are being distributed.

Families not already associated with local education programs can pick up supplies at Catholic Charities in Ilion and Family Place in Utica.
