The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area took part in the United Way's 2019 annual Day of Action today.

About 100 volunteers were at SUNY Poly in Marcy this morning, packing nearly 37,000 meals for food pantries in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

"Hundreds of families across the Mohawk Valley area struggle to put food on the table.  Summer often means the absence of regular breakfasts and lunches for their children," said Erin Matt, CEO of the local United Way.  "By providing these meals to our local food pantries, it will help them fulfill the increased needs they seen when we enter school's summer break."

This is the third time the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area has partnered with Meals of Hope and local businesses to help fill the shelves of local food pantries.
