Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica police are releasing the name of the victim who was shot on the 1400 block of Kemble Street earlier this week. The victim is 29-year-old William Liggins of Utica. He received a single gun shot wound to his lower back while in the area Monday night. They say his wounds are not life-threatening and is being treated at a local hospital.

The incident is still under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to come forward by contacting Criminal Investigation at (315) 223-3510. All calls may be kept confidential.

According to officials, while officers were on scene, another shots fired call was reported at 11:02 p.m. on James St. and West St. Officers checked that area but could not find any evidence. A short time later another shots fired call was reported on 168 Elmwood Place. In that incident, police found that a shot was fired into a first floor apartment where a baby and several small children were sleeping.
