A Utica man has been arrested following an investigation by New Hartford Police into the theft of personal checks.

29-year old Richard Santillo II is charged with one count of grand larceny, eight counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of criminal possession of stolen property.

Police say Santillo allegedly stole several personal checks from a home and fraudulently cashed them at numerous banks in the New Hartford and Utica area.

They say Santillo was familiar with the victim.
