Utica Man Charged With Burglary

A Utica man is facing charges after police responded to a home on Broad Street and Kossuth Avenue for a burglary in progress.

Police say officers surrounded the building, saw a door that was forced open and heard movement from inside the building.

Officers called into the building and 40-year old Earl Scofield walked out a short time later

Police say they found an open can of cold beer, a bag containing a torch and a saw inside the basement.

Scofield was charged with burglary and petty larceny.
