Utica Police Make First Bath Salts Arrest

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica Police have made their first arrest under the city's newly passed ordinance for possession of synthetic drugs.

30-year old Benjamin Silva was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of synthetic drugs.

Police say Silva was in possession of marijuana and a small glass jar labeled “Cleaner” that contained a substance with the synthetic drug known as “bath salts” inside.

Silva was also charged with criminal contempt and harassment in connection with a domestic incident that happened earlier this month.
