Utica, NY (WIBX) - About 900 people were given a hot meal and gifst at the Utica Rescue Mission on Christmas day.

Executive Director, Reverend Bill Dodge, says the mission served about 325 meals in-house and delivered about 575 to homebound individuals in and around Utica.

Volunteers cooked, cut and served 40 turkeys, 40 hams, 350 pounds of potatoes, 30 gallons of gravy, 200 pounds of mixed vegtables and over 100 pies, Dodge said.

Gifts includes new socks, hats, gloves and scarves.

And, Dodge says many of the 200 vounteers who helped prepared the food said they enjoyed spending Christmas helping others and planned to come to back again.
