Utica, NY (WIBX) - Local gas prices are up another six-cents this week to an average of $3.95 per gallon in the Utica-Rome market, according to Ed Welsh, AAA's Central Regional general manager.

Last Friday, the average price locally was $3.89, a 14-cent increase from the previous week.

The reason the prices haven't risen as dramatically this week is two-fold, Welsh said.

Oil has been up-and-down all week on the stock market, and "...there is a refinery that came on line in Philadelphia this past week, which, I think, is helping out here on the east coast, slowing down the rate of growth," he said.

In New York City, the average price is $4.04 a gallon today, Welsh said.

Elsewhere around the state: Buffalo and Rochester are both averaging $3.92, Binghamton and Albany are both at $3.95, and drivers in Syracuse are paying an average of $3.91, Welsh said.
