It's costing more to fill up your gas tank.

According to AAA Northeast, gas prices are up two cents a gallon in central New York this week.

The average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.73 a gallon, which is three cents below the state average.

The New York price is 11 cents above the national average of $2.65 a gallon.

"After a few weeks of flat gas prices motorists are paying more this week," said Ed Welsh, Regional General Manager. "New York State is now ranked as having the 10th highest average gas prices in the U.S."

A year ago, the average price in New York was 33 cents lower at $2.43.

Welsh is advising motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area.
