Utica Rome Unemployment Rate Down In March

The local unemployment rates for March are out and it's good news for our area.

The New York State Department of Labor says the Utica-Rome jobless rate was 6.1% last month.  That's down from 7.2% in March of 2014.

The state's unemployment rate fell from 5.8% in February to 5.7% in March. It's the lowest level since August of 2008.

Meanwhile, the Labor Department says New York's private sector job count increased by 146,300 from march 2014 to March of this year.
