Utica Rome Unemployment Rate Down In October

The New York State Department of Labor is out with the preliminary local unemployment rates for October.

The jobless rate in the Utica-Rome area was 5.9% last month.

That's down from 7% in October 2013.

The statewide unemployment rate was at 6% in October, its lowest level in six years.

Meanwhile, the state added 110,000 private sector jobs from October 2013 to October 2014.
