There's some good news for the Utica City School District.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says the district will be getting $125,000 in supplemental funding from the state for programs to improve student performance.

The money is in addition to the state aid received in the 2015-16 state budget.

Brindisi says the funding will be also be used to enhance professional development programs for teachers in the district.

Superintendent Bruce Karam says the funding provides the opportunity to give their staff the important tools they need to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
