QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) — A Vermont man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a tent at a New York campground has pleaded guilty.
The Post-Star says Andrew S. Moran, of Chelsea, Vermont, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to first-degree criminal sexual act and two burglary charges. The judge dismissed a charge of third-degree criminal sexual act.
The crime occurred last Labor Day weekend at a campground in Lake Luzerne, New York.
Moran agreed to a plea deal that includes a state prison term of between 7 and 12 years.
The plea took place the week before his trial was to start. He could have faced up to 40 years in prison if convicted of all charges.
His sentencing is scheduled for April 10.
