Visitor restrictions that had been in place at Mohawk Valley Health System hospitals to protect patients from the flu and other illnesses have been lifted.

The moves comes after State Commissioner of Health Dr. Howard Zucker declared unfluenza is no longer prevalent in New York state.

The declaration also means that healthcare workers who are not vaccinated against the flu are no longer required to wear masks in areas where patients are typically present.
