Walmart is going cage-free by 2025.

The retail giant announced its plans to only sell cage-free eggs within the next ten yeears.

Animal advocacy groups note that although Walmart is not the first chain to go cage-free, it is one of the most influential, since Walmart's sales account for about one-fourth of all groceries sold in the United States.

In response to the news The Humane Society of the United States released a statement saying that Walmart's decision will "benefit more animals than any other corporate announcement in the history of the animal protection movement."
