Wheelchair curlers from throughout North America will be at the Utica Curling Club this weekend for the 11th annual U.S Open International Wheelchair Bonspiel.

The 11-team tournament will take place from Friday through Sunday.

10 Sitrin STARS athletes will be representing the United States.

“The Annual U.S. Open International Wheelchair Bonspiel is a unique opportunity to see some of the best athletes in the world,” said Marc DePerno, director of the Sitrin STARS program. “Many teams, such as Team USA, use this competition as a training tool to prepare for the 2017 World Wheelchair Curling Championships, being held in the Gangneung Republic of Korea next March. We are happy to once again welcome this event back to the Mohawk Valley at the wonderful Utica Curling Club; it is just one more feather in our cap to show the world what Utica has to offer.”

Admission to the event is free.
