A Whitesboro hunter is lucky to be alive after his head was grazed by a stray bullet on Thanksgiving.
Authorities say two men were hunting at around 9:30 Thanksgiving morning in an area known as the flats in Whitestown, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. When a deer ran between the pair, one shot and the bullet grazed the head of 42-year-old Travis Dam of Whitesboro, deputies said.

Dam was taken to a local hospital but then transferred to Syracuse. His injuries do not appear life threatening, deputies said.

At this time no charges have been filed. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating, along with the NYS Environmental Conservation team.
