The Utica Peregrine Falcons have been living high atop the Adirondack Bank building in Downtown Utica for the last 10 years. So far in 2017 Astrid and Ares have hatched 4 eggs and the new baby chicks need names.

The Utica Peregrine Falcon Project has launched a campaign to allow the public to name the offspring of these majestic birds. The UPFP believes there are 3 males and 1 female. You can submit your name ideas on the UPFP website. The contest page states,

We will accept name submissions from May 25th through May 31st. You are invited to submit from 1-4 names. We currently believe that we have 1 female and 3 males, however the chicks are still young and that could change.

All names submitted prior to midnight on May 31st will be given careful consideration and the finalists will have their ideas presented in front of the UPFP naming committee. Participants whose names are chosen will receive a Utica Peregrine Falcon T-shirt. The T-shirts are to be awarded on the first Saturday of UPFP's Fledge Watch, which is June 17th.

The organizers of the contest want to discourage people from submitting names of celebrities, professional athletes, or politicians. In addition to submitting your choices for names you are asked to give a reason why you chose the names. The final names will be announced on the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project website and Facebook page.
