6 Year Old Injured In Car Accident

State police in Marcy are reporting a 6 year old child was injured in an accident on Route 12 in the town of Marshall shortly before 8:00 this morning.
According to the accident report, Liberty Caye, 37, of Utica failed to negotiate a curve when he lost control of his vehicle.

Caye crossed lanes and hit an embankment that caused his vehicle to roll over and come to rest on its passenger side.

Police say Jayda Colter, 6, of Whitesboro was partially ejected from the rear passenger door that had opened during the accident. The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on her.

Several witnesses stopped to help roll the car off of Colter who was eventually taken to a Syracuse hospital where she is listed in critical condition with head and chest injuries.

Caye and a third passenger, Elrick Colter, 14, of Whitesboro were not injured.

Police say charges are pending further investigation.
