Open Enrollment begins today for health insurance for 2017 and ACR Health is helping area residents get signed up with four navigators located in Oneida County.

Eric Radley is one of the navigators and he says while many people are concerned with the recent news of higher insurance premiums, that isn't the case in New York:

"A lot of people are watching the national news and they're seeing an increase in rates, which actually New York State is one of the lowest for rates going up," Radley said. "Yes they are going up, but it's between 2% and 15% depending on the plan, but it's nowhere near the national rates where you're seeing 40%, 50%, 70% increases. That's just not happening in New York."

If you want health insurance coverage by January 1, 2017, the deadline to apply is December 15, but those with Medicaid or a qualifier such as a birth, job, or income  change will be able to pick a plan outside of open enrollment.

You can call ACR Health to set up an appointment at 315-793-0661, and just ask to speak to a navigator.

When you arrive for your appointment you will need:

  • Name
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Social security number
  • Tax returns
  • A month's worth of pay stubs

ACR Health is located at 287 Genesee Street, Utica.
