Andy Pettitte and the New York Yankees believe the veteran lefty still has gas in the tank.

Both sides agreed to a one-year contract worth a reported $12-million dollars on Wednesday, according to yankees.com:

"It was pretty easy once I started working out, trying to decide if I felt like I had the desire to do the work that needed to be put in," Pettitte said. "It was pretty easy for me to realize that this was something I wanted to try and do again."

The 40-year old Pettitte was 5-4 with a 2.87 in 12 starts in his comeback tour with the Yankees after a one-year retirement. He missed nearly three months after suffering a broken ankle on a line-drive back through the box that struck him the leg.
