LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Lake Placid is becoming the lacrosse capital of the north.

Summit Lacrosse Ventures announced it is adding the High Peaks Summit Classic next June 24-25. The new event will be played just before the Youth Classic, which debuted this past summer.

The addition will give Summit Lacrosse Ventures four events in Lake Placid in 2017, including its flagship, the 28th Lake Placid Summit Classic.

Organizers say the High Peaks Summit Classic will try to accommodate those in the over-18 and over-30 age groups who haven't been able to participate in the Summit Classic in August. It has evolved into a seven-day, 250-team event with players ranging from 16 to over 65. Teams have been turned away because of capacity constraints.
