The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is apologizing for a fire training exercise at Logan International Airport that took place on September 11, 2013.

The exercise, which "involved flames and smoke" was called "just dumb" by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick who was quoted in the Boston Globe, saying the timing of the exercise could not have been worse.

Massport says it was sorry for the poor timing and for offending those affected by the September 11 attacks.  Two of the planes that were used in the attacks took off from Logan International Airport.
