Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi is calling the results of the latest National Report Card on Education troubling.

The report says only about one quarter of high school Seniors preformed well in Math and the 38% of students at or above proficiency in reading was slightly lower than it was in 1992.

As a result Brindisi is calling for a Career and Technical Education pathway to graduation in high schools.

Brindisi is co-sponsoring a bill with Senator David Valesky that would allow high school students to pursue coursework and certification in high tech and manufacturing fields.

Brindisi says over 1,000 stakeholders have signed on in support of the Career and Technical Education Pathway.
