Benches Clear in A’s-Tigers ALDS Game 3: Near Brawl After Grant Balfour And Victor Martinez Exchange Words

They almost came to blows in Game 3 of the Tigers-A's ALDS playoff game in Detroit on Monday.

Oakland reliever Grant Balfour - who is apparently known for talking, possibly to himself when on the mound - got into a back and forth with Detroit's Victor Martinez.

You can see in the video below that Martinez is looking out the mound after a swing and miss, possibly because of something Balfour said. Balfour basically invites Martinez out to the mound, and the Tiger's slugger takes him up on the offer.

This seems like nothing more than a misunderstanding, but it will be worth watching as the series continues.

Balfour retired Martinez and went to pick up a save in Oakland's 6-3 win. The A's have grabbed a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-five series.
