Binghamton Police Investigate South Side Shooting
Binghamton Police are tight-lipped about reports of a shooting May 23 at a troubled South Side apartment complex.
No details are available other than unofficial accounts that a man was shot in the leg at the Saratoga Terrace Apartments at around 10 p.m.
Reliable sources tell WNBF News that at least one person was believed hit by gunfire but inquiries to the Binghamton Police concerning the reported injury and whether anyone had been detained or taken into custody in the incident were asked to be directed to the department administration later in the day.
This is the second violent incident reportedly resulting in injury in Binghamton in the past couple days.
Binghamton Police were called to the corner of Court and State Streets downtown at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 for a reported stabbing. Detectives confirm there had been a stabbing at that location but offered no additional details. Footage from surveillance cameras on a building at the intersection showed flashing lights and people running but the camera angle did not provide a view of the incident.
There had been unconfirmed reports that a male in his 20s had been injured in that incident.
WNBF will have more information on both incidents as it is made available.
