Herkimer County has been awarded a nearly $1 million grant through the Department of Health and Human Services as part of their Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grants program.

The funding was announced by Congressman Anthony Brindisi.

The $989,477 grant will be used to provide critical mental health care for the community.

Brindisi says the grant funding will be used to enhance and expand Herkimer County's mental health care programs for at-risk youth.

“We’re really excited to get this grant,” said Director of Public Health for Herkimer County, Christina Cain. “Our resources are scarce, and this will help all the children in Herkimer County.”
