Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi is asking U.S. Census Bureau officials to again operate a regional field office in downtown Utica for its 2020 Census.

Brindisi says the 2010 Census office located in the Doyle Hardware Building employed over one-thousand people in short term jobs.

Most of the jobs generally involved field work.

He says the Utica-area has a workforce that is ideally suited for this type of work, since many people here have worked in the banking, financial or customer service field.

These are people with flexible work hours who would welcome the opportunity to put their skills to work to earn additional money in a temporary job in a related field,” said Brindisi
