Bruce’s Bat Beats Phillies
Jay Bruce clubbed two homers and drove in all five of his team's runs as the Mets snapped a four-game losing streak, beating the Phillies 5-4 at Citi Field on Wednesday night.
Bruce smacked a three-run blast in the sixth five the Mets a 3-2 lead. Then, after Philly tied the game at 3 in the top of the eighth, Bruce delivered a two-run shot - again to the netting just beyond the right field wall.
Addison Reed allowed a run in the ninth but did close it out to pickup his fourth save.
Reed has been filling in for closer Jeurys Familia who is wrapping up his 15-game suspension following a domestic dispute last year. Familia is eligible to return from that suspension Thursday.
